We enjoyed a lot of Christmas music, celebrations and holiday cheer during December.
Thank you to everyone who remembered the staff and residents during the holidays.
In January we had Amanda, a music therapist come and work with several residents. It was interesting to see her work with the residents and the different responses she received when she played. January 18 is National Maintenance Day. The residents learned from Garrison, the Maintenance Supervisor what maintenance does and how important maintenance is to Wellington Place. Tom Misseldine, a musician new to Wellington, gave a concert January 22. We hope he comes back again! We have been learning about Australia all month. Shelly, our Dietary Manager made meat pies at our monthly baking class for the residents which is a popular food in Australia. We have been reading about the fires in Australia and the wild life. We watched a video about Australia, and I shared items that we received from friends who live near Sydney, Australia.
On February 14 we will be crowning our Valentine’s King and Queen at our party. Please feel free to join us for food and fun. Our bell choir will resume practicing in February for our Easter concert. Larry Reis will be here on February 25 to present his monthly program. He will be talking about Iowa’s Fur Bearing Animals. We will be hosting a Quilts of Valor program on February 17 at10:30 in the activity room. As always please feel free to join any activity when you stop in. We would love to see you and have you join in the fun!
Until next time, Lynn Monroe Recreation Program
