Activity News
As you can imagine our activity calendar has been very different in the last few months. We are doing our best to keep our residents involved, happy and engaged during this difficult time. We have adapted our activities to include social distancing. We now have bingo, crafts, church services, ice cream treats, games and exercise in each hallway with at least 6 feet apart from each resident. Now that the weather is warm enough, we are going out in the courtyard several times a week. We have added several new activities including the hospitality cart, music before meals and a lot more one on ones.
We celebrated National Nursing Home week in May with the theme of “Sharing our Wisdom.” The residents shared the name of their favorite teacher for a bulletin board. That activity started a lot of great conversation! Another day the residents shared their own words of wisdom. I hope you got a chance to see their posters on Face Book as it was great. On Wednesday May 13 we had our parade around the facility. We had 53 vehicles including the Fire Department and the Sheriff’s office. The parade made the day for staff and residents. Thank you to those that participated. In June we will be having concerts in the parking lot instead of in the activity room for the musicians who are able. We will be having some individual outings, a Fishing day including dress up, fishy games, fishing stories and fishy snacks. We will be gardening in the courtyard, eating a lot of ice cream treats, celebrating Father’s Day, Flag Day and National Hershey’s Kiss Day. We will also honor our CNA’s during National CNA week June 18-24.
Everyone is so looking forward to the day when we can celebrate together all of the holidays, volunteer appreciation day, concerts, birthdays and special events that we have had to postpone. Some day we will have an amazing party and I look forward to that day to see you all! Until we meet again stay safe and God Bless.
