During these unprecedented times with the COVID 19 virus accelerating throughout the country Wellington Place is committed in doing the best we can to keep your loved ones safe. With this being said, it is also important that everyone understand the risks of accidentally spreading the virus that you may have but don’t know you have. Just this morning it was said that approximately 50% of the people that have the virus have no symptoms. We cannot run around as usual and think that our community is going to stay safe from this very difficult disease. This situation is fluid and changing almost daily but we are now in what they are calling the most difficult next two weeks of the disease phase. If you are needing to visit a loved one outside a window this is fine however, the window must remain closed. Remember we can set up zoom, FaceTime and other communication devices in order for you to stay connected. We certainly understand the desire to be once again face to face but until this time comes, we must all be diligent in keeping one another safe. In addition, we now screen at the Assisted Living side and the Nursing Facility side, just in case of any essential deliveries and for our staff. Thanks for trusting the care of your loved ones to us here at Wellington Place & Assisted Living.
Wellington Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Campus located at 2479 River Rd. in Decorah will soon begin construction on Phase 2 of a $4 million-dollar project. Phase 2 will consist of a 12 unit Assisted Living Memory Care equipped with intimate home-like living areas, lots of natural lighting, and dementia specific activities. Residents will have the choice of a private or companion suite floor plan where they will bring personal furnishings from home, making it familiar and comforting. Nursing personnel and caregivers with special training in Alzheimer’s and dementia-related care will focus on creating moments of happiness and compassionate care for the residents living there. The new project is expected to be completed by years end.
The general contractor for this project is David Finholt Construction, a Decorah based company. Local contractors that will be providing work on this project will be: Skyline Construction, Wicks Construction, See Electric, Continental Fire Sprinkler Company, and Casper Plumbing and Heating.
Stay safe and God Bless!
